Jane Innes and Tai Chi Aberdeenshire provide tuition in taiji quan and qigong (pronounced tai chi chuan and chi kung) to all ages and abilities in Aboyne, Banchory, Stonehaven and the surrounding area.
We begin each taiji class with a warm-up followed by qigong exercises preparatory to working on the taiji routines. Beginners learn the 24 Step Taijiquan, a short version of Yang style taiji. The main focus is on posture, breathing and movement to support calmness, balance and health.
As students gain experience in this form, they have the opportunity to learn Yang style long form, working alongside more experienced taiji players, exploring the philosophy, symbolism and martial applications in greater depth.
In the Qigong class we practice simple exercises for their many health benefits, using gentle movements, coordinated with breathing to encourage relaxation and self awareness of body and mind.
We also tailor tuition to individual and group needs, and can adapt taiji and qigong movements for a variety of abilities.
